The assignments involved:
- Propose a standard specification for the PCs to be put in place in three departments for a medium-large size organisation - Including: processor, hard disk drive, memory, monitor, other peripherals, software and warranty.
- Justifying the appropriate software, including a cost estimate
- Discuss what specialised software would benefit the Product Assembly, Sales, Finance & Administration, and other departments
- Justify the required changes to be made to the standard hardware specifications to meet the specialised requirements of these departments
- Drawing a network diagram and discuss what additional hardware and software will be required to network the seven departments, and justifying the benefits that the network would bring to the organisation
- Preparing a Request For Proposal (RFP) document considering the hardware, software, communications and services that will be required for Internet, Web design and hosting, and email services for the organisation
- Prepare a newspaper advertisement announcing the realease of the Request For Proposal (RFP)
- Creating an evaluation matrix for when the vendors submit their proposals, considering the evaluation factors required in compiling a shortlist of vendors
